This filter allows Cumulus¬ to catalog image files stored on Kodak Photo CDs. The file type is ╥PCDI╙.
Typically these kind of files can be found in the folder ╥IMAGES╙ of the folder ╥PHOTO_CD╙ on a Kodak Photo CD.
Version 3.0 supports the Kodak Pro Photo CD format. With this extended format a higher resolution of 4096 x 6144 pixels is supported and it is possible to encrypt images or to protect images with a watermark.
Each resolution of a Photo CD image can be encrypted or watermarked. Therefore it is possible that the thumbnails are not encrypted or watermarked whereas images with a higher resolution are protected. Additional information about each image can be found in the corresponding Image Pac file on the Photo CD.
All thumbnails are contained in a single file named Overview Pac file. Also copyright/use restriction files may be located on the Photo CD. These files are optional, and an image may be legally subject to restrictions even if it has no copyright/use restriction file. If the image is encrypted or watermarked it has an Image ID. This ID is unique and remains with the image even if it is copied to another disk and renamed. Image vendors may require the user to provide the ID to them before they issue a password. The password cannot be transfered by Cumulus to another application. If an encrypted or watermarked image is imported from Cumulus to an application which supports encrypted and watermarked images the user will be asked for the password even when the password was saved by Cumulus. If the application does not support encrypted and watermarked images the image cannot be imported from Cumulus or directly from CD or hard disk.

The Photo CD Filter displays the following setup dialog:

Encrypted Images, Preferences
- Don't catalog: If at least one resolution is encrypted the image will not be cataloged.
- Catalog without password: All images will be cataloged. If the lowest resolution is encrypted the filter will look for the Overview Pac file to get a thumbnail. When the Overview Pac file is not available a default thumbnail is used.
- Ask for password
1. Save password is not checked: No password is requested unless the lowest resolution is encrypted and the Overview Pac file is not available. The password is not saved for previewing.
2. Save password is checked: If at least one resolution is encrypted the user will be asked for the password. The password will be saved in an encrypted form for further previews. The saved password cannot be viewed or passed to other applications.
Watermarked images, Preferences
- Don't catalog: If at least one of the resolutions is watermarked the image will not be cataloged.
- Catalog without password: All images will be cataloged. If the lowest resolution is watermarked the filter will look for the Overview Pac file to get a thumbnail. When the Overview Pac file is not available the watermarked image will be used.
- Ask for password
1. Save password is not checked: No password is requested unless the lowest resolution is watermarked and the Overview Pac file is not available. The password is not saved for previewing.

Watermarked images, Preview
If the selected resolution of the image is watermarked you can decide whether you want to be asked for a password or not. If you do not assign a password the preview will be covered with a watermark. When the selected resolution is encrypted you must unlock the image with the password.
Add to the ╥Notes╙ field
You can select whether the Image ID and/or the Copyright Information will be added to the Notes field while cataloging.
Preview size
Allows you to select the resolution of the preview. The selected resolution can be changed while browsing. If the filter cannot create a preview of the selected resolution it tries to create a smaller preview.
Information Window
The information window of Cumulus contains general information, the Image Name, the Notes field and the Categories list:

The Image Name contains the name of the image file, usually beginning with ╥IMG╙ followed by a number and the extension ╥PCD;1╙.
You can choose the Filter Setup Dialog if the Image ID and the Copyright is added to the Notes field while cataloging. If one or both items are not available, the corresponding entries are empty. In any case the entries can be changed after cataloging by editing.
With the Cataloging Options Dialog you can decide if categories are included while cataloging. Categories can be asigned after cataloging as well.
Type-specific Information Window
The dialog displaying the type-specific information looks like this:

Image ID
The unique Image ID for that image. If the image ID is not available the field remains empty.
Resolutions
For each resolution one of the following attributes is given:
- Available: The image is available without watermark protection and without encryption.
- Watermarked: The image is watermarked. A preview is possible with or without the password. Without the password the preview will be covered with a watermark. If a password is saved this password will be used for the preview.
- Encrypted: The image is encrypted. For a preview the password is necessary. If a password is saved this password will be used for the preview.
- Not Available: The image is not available.
Password saved
Whether the password has been saved while cataloging or not. When the password has been saved a preview for watermarked and encrypted images is possible without entering the password again.
If you want to catalog encrypted images you should consider that after cataloging these images without saving the password Cumulus will ask for the password each time the image is previewed. In the current version Cumulus will not be able to save the password after a preview. To save the password you have to catalog the image again with the option ╥Ask for the password, Save the password╙.
